Nordstrom Expands its Allbirds Partnership with NYC Pop-Up, as the Retailer Seeks to Develop Sustainable Offerings

Nordstrom has teamed up again with Allbirds, this time for a five-week Center Stage pop-up at the New York flagship department store.
Nordstrom will have Allbirds styles for men and women from now until September 6 — including the Wool Runner and Tree Lounger, Tree Breezer, and Tree Flyer — on the Center Stage of its 57th Street flagship.

The Seattle-based retailer said customers could shop the range online at Nordstrom.com and in 25 select stores. The footwear brand’s children’s line Smallbirds will also be available at the New York flagship pop-up and Nordstrom.com.

The department store giant claims that the NYC pop-up is designed like a “supernatural path” and aims to tell Allbirds’ story. The space is covered in wool, a nod towards the ZQ Merino wool used to make the Wool Runner footwear. It also features storytelling pods inspired by the eucalyptus fiber in Allbirds Tree Flyer running shoe.

The NYC pop-up store will celebrate its opening on Tuesday, August 9, 5:30-7:30 pm.

“Our customers love Allbirds, and we’re thrilled to offer our New York customers an opportunity to explore the world through our five-week Center Stage popuppopup,” TaceyPowers, EVP for shoes at Nordstrom, told F.N. Both Allbirds and Nordstrom share a typical value of sustainability.

Powers stated that Allbirds products are eligible for Nordstrom’s Sustainable Style category. This group includes products from sustainably sourced ingredients and responsibly manufactured or packaged.

Powers noted that Nordstrom aims to have 15% of its products qualify for Sustainable Style by 2025.

Powers said, “We are proud to be Allbirds’ exclusive lifestyle retailer partner. This aligns with our focus on being a partner choice and delivering best selection across brands that matter most for our customers.”

She stated that the partnership between Allbirds & Nordstrom “is an amazing platform to elevate discussions on sustainability, conscientious Carbon consumption, and waste in fashion.” We are excited to share this conversation with Nordstrom customers at Center Stage. They will see firsthand that there is no need for compromises on style, comfort, or sustainability.

The partnership is not the first between the brands. Nordstrom’s 2018 “[email protected] welcomes Allbirds” partnership was its first in-store retail partnership.

In May, Pete Nordstrom, the company’s president and chief brand officer, announced that Allbirds would now be available in 14 of its stores across the country. The line was available at several stores, including New York City, Downtown Seattle, Palo Alto, Calif., Century City in L.A., and Tysons CornerCenter, Tysons Corner, Va.
