Raf Simons will make his London runway debut in September during the upcoming London Fashion Week. The British Fashion Council revealed Monday its preliminary program.
“It’s been a dream for a while to show in London – a city where fashion and creativity are omnipresent in the streets and where I see exceptional people with a strong, unique style,” said the Prada co-creative director.
“I’m thrilled to see this dream become real right now, and I’m pleased to be able to welcome the incredible people and faces who make up London. London scene for my event. I can’t wait to meet you and party the night away,” added the Belgian designer.
A total of 110 brands will show their spring 2023 collections at the five-day festival from September. 16 until 20.
Burberry is now under the new chief executive Jonathan Akeroyd will return to the official calendar using the format of a physical show after having its shows digitally for two years because of the COVID-19 virus. The brand held its first ever physical event following the cancellation of the pandemic schedule in March earlier in the year.
Other brands expected to be returning are JW Anderson, Emilia Wickstead, Erdem, Huishan Zhang, Molly Goddard, Rejina Pyo, Roskanda, Halpern, and Simone Rocha, LVMH Prize winners Nensi Dojaka and S.S. Daley, as along with brands such as Richard Malone, Supriya Lele, Knowles, Chopova Lowena, Susan Fang, Pronounce, David Koma, 16Arlington, Daniel Fletcher, and Edward Crutchley.
The BFC Newgen show space will remain located at The Old Selfridges Hotel to give space at a reasonable cost for young talents like Asai, Chet Lo, Eftychia, Paolo Carzana, Ancuta Sarca Stefan Cooke, Yuan Wang, Sinead O’Dwyer, Leo Carlton, Di Petsa, Fabien, Helen Kirkum, Masha Popova and Harri.
This year, the most prominent brands are exhibiting in the first week of LFW, which is expected to draw the fashion-conscious international crowd into this city sooner than previously. In past seasons, buyers from abroad and the press usually avoid the first and last day of LFW to save money.
Raf Simons’ time slot will begin at 8 p.m. LFW in September. 16, Burberry, and JW Anderson will be showing at the end of the week on Saturday, September 16, at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. The time is 8 p.m. and 6 p.m.
The complete schedule will be revealed in mid-August and will include specific details about the format of each event.
